The Strength family brings together 7 core values: Strength, Courage, Hard work, Persistence, Power, Resilience and Self-control. They share a theme, courage, resilience and staying power, and each puts the weight somewhere slightly different. If two or three of them feel true of you, this theme probably matters a lot in how you choose your work and spend your time.
The values in Strength
Strength
Strength as a core value means building the physical, mental and emotional capacity to carry weight, hold steady under pressure and be someone others can lean on.
Courage
Courage as a core value means doing what you believe is right while you’re still afraid, whether that’s speaking up, owning a mistake or taking a real risk.
Hard work
Hard work as a core value means believing that good things come from steady effort, and taking pride in doing a job properly and earning what you have.
Persistence
Persistence as a core value means keeping going towards something worthwhile over months or years, and showing up steadily long after the excitement has faded and progress has slowed.
Power
Power as a core value means wanting the capacity to make things happen directly, through position, resources or decision rights, so you can shape outcomes you care about.
Resilience
Resilience as a core value means recovering well from setbacks: feeling the blow, then rebuilding, and taking pride in how you come through hard times.
Self-control
Self-control as a core value means pausing between feeling something and acting on it, so you decide what you do even when anger, cravings or impatience are pulling hard.
