The Creation family brings together 6 core values: Craft, Creativity, Imagination, Innovation, Originality and Self-expression. They share a theme, making things that didn’t exist before, and each puts the weight somewhere slightly different. If two or three of them feel true of you, this theme probably matters a lot in how you choose your work and spend your time.
The values in Creation
Craft
Craft as a core value means caring about how things are made, putting skill and attention into the details so the finished work is well made, whoever ends up noticing.
Creativity
Creativity as a core value means bringing new ideas into being, whether that’s a plan, a product, a meal or a better way of running something ordinary.
Imagination
Imagination as a core value means picturing what doesn’t exist yet, whether a product, a plan or a different future, and enjoying time spent among those possibilities.
Innovation
Innovation as a core value means looking for better ways of doing things and seeing them through until the new way actually replaces the old one.
Originality
Originality as a core value means doing things your own way, so that what you make and how you work are recognisably yours, and copying what others have done feels uncomfortable.
Self-expression
Self-expression as a core value means letting who you are show in what you say, make, wear and share, so your thoughts and feelings have somewhere visible to go.
